What does GHCS need to continue to serve the Greater Hammond Community?
The first and most important item is local monetary donations. This means that GHCS must provide a proportionate amount of money to utilize these funds, often as much as 50% or more. We receive the Agency funds after we spend the funds we have collected from Local sources. Local sources come from individual donors, churches, area businesses and other area organizations.
We serve a large contingent of needy and elderly people and this requires a large number of volunteers. Greater Hammond Community Services has only 3 full time employees on it's payroll however, approximately 700 people volunteer to help each year. Food and personal toiletries are needed on a continuing basis.

What happens to the donation I make to GHCS?
The donations received by GHCS go to benefit the people we service in the form of food, toiletries, etc. By utilizing these funds in a very responsible manner we can help more families that have been temporarily set back by illness, job loss, catastrophe, or other hardship.
